Morie IDE 0.47.0 (beta) — signed, notarized, and it updates itself

Released 2026-10-07 from 63e1ac9e. Since 0.46.1.

What it is

The first public beta, offered on morie.dev. The first build signed with Apple's Developer ID and notarized, so macOS opens it without a trip to System Settings. The first with an updater (it fetches and installs new versions itself). From here on, Morie keeps itself current.

New

• morie.dev: the site. What Morie is, the download, and no sign-up.
• Updates: Morie checks morie.dev at launch and every 6 hours, and again on wake when a check is overdue.
• Check for updates: Automatically, Ask me or Off, in Settings → Data and backups → Updates. Automatically is the default.
• Automatically downloads in the background and asks only to restart. Ask me asks before downloading.
• The bar (the update banner across the top of the window): available, downloading with its percent, failed with Try again, ready.
• Restart to update: on the ready bar and in Settings. Later hides the bar; the update still applies when Morie quits.
• What's new: a link on the bar to the new version's notes.
• The backup before a new version: the first launch of a new version copies the database before anything in it changes.
• Morie could not start: if that backup fails, Morie stops and says so. Try again, Use the default folder (when the backup folder was chosen in Settings), or Quit.

Changed

• CLI (the agent's own terminal interface): a chat's view toggle reads Chat | CLI, not Chat | Terminal. A ticket's Terminal pane keeps its name.
• The version: About reads "Morie, Version 0.47.0 (beta)".

Fixed

Nothing since 0.46.1.

Known problems

• The first in-app update, from 0.47.0 to the next version, is the first time Morie installs an update by itself. If it does not apply, download the new DMG from morie.dev and drag it over the old one.

Upgrading

• From 0.46.x: the data folder (where Morie keeps its database and settings) stays ~/Library/Application Support/morie-ide.
• The database is backed up before the first launch of 0.47.0 touches it. The window says so if it cannot be.
• At first launch: your projects, tickets and chats, as you left them. No setup screen.
• By hand: nothing. Drag Morie into Applications over the old one.
• From a 0.0.1 test build: the same. Same folder, same backup, nothing to do.
